Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Waveguide Geometry–Driven Trade‐Offs in Resonant Cavity Sensor Performance
Waveguide geometry governs the interplay between sensitivity, intrinsic Q‐factor, and wavelength noise in silicon nitride resonant sensors. Contrary to intuition, higher sensitivity does not ensure superior performance. Low‐noise, high‐Q ridge resonators achieve the lowest detection limits, revealing that detection is ultimately constrained by noise ...

Recent Progress and Future Prospects of LWIR T2SL InAs/GaSb Detectors on GaAs
InAs/GaSb LWIR type‐II superlattices (T2SLs) on GaAs substrates are cost‐effective and offer higher yield. However, due to a relatively large lattice mismatch, a high density of threading dislocations is created, which is detrimental to device performance.

Nonlinearity‐Selective Dark States via Symmetry‐Protected Source‐Mode Decoupling in χ (2) Thin Films
A symmetry‐resolved overlap framework that shows how a χ (2) thin film can remain resonant yet become nonlinearly dark. Thickness tuning creates an odd harmonic mode whose signed overlap with the pump‐induced nonlinear source cancels across the film, suppressing the emitted second‐harmonic signal despite finite local generation.

Mode splitting in meta‐waveguide microring resonators (MWMRs) effectively suppresses baseline drift and measurement noise while maintaining high refractive‐index sensitivity. This reflection‐induced mode splitting strategy enables quantitative detection of ultra‐weak surface perturbations and establishes MWMRs as a robust, drift‐immune platform for ...

Recent Advances in Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in Integrated Photonics
This review systematically surveys recent advances in stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) within integrated photonics. It begins by elucidating the fundamental mechanisms of stimulated coupling between photons and acoustic phonons in nanoscale waveguides, enhanced by the photoelastic and moving boundary effects.
