A Dual‐Frequency Sensitivity Model for Optical Fibre Ultrasonic Sensors in Power Transformer Partial Discharge Detection

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The detection of partial discharges (PD) on the power transformer tank demands higher sensitivity in ultrasonic detection. To target the detection frequency band for sensor optimisation and enhance sensitivity, this paper presents a dual‐frequency sensitivity model for optical fibre ultrasonic sensors.

Renal‐vascular axis: unmasking its role in vascular endothelial growth factor‐inhibitor vascular toxicity in cancer patients

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Vascular toxicity is a growing concern in cancer patients receiving vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitor (VEGFi) therapy, posing a significant threat to patient prognosis. While the primary mechanism of VEGFi‐induced vascular toxicity is linked to redox‐sensitive reactions that disrupt vascular tone, leading to hypertension and ...

Identification of Copy Number Variants as a Suspected Cause of Cerebral Small Vessel Disease

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
Whole‐exome sequencing of 111 patients with suspected familial cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) identified novel copy number variants in four patients across NOTCH3, LMNB1, and COL4A2, using bioinformatic and molecular techniques. These validated CNVs suggest structural variation is an underrecognized potential causal contributor to monogenic CSVD ...

Molecular dynamics simulations elucidate the misfolding mechanisms of secretion‐defective pancreatic lipase variants

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Misfolding mutations in pancreatic lipase have been identified as potential contributors of chronic pancreatitis, an inflammatory disease of the human pancreas. Here, we describe the effect of these misfolding mutations on pancreatic lipase structure using molecular dynamics simulations and structural modeling.

Contextual Factors and Intentional Rounding in Acute Hospitals: Understanding What Works, for Whom, in What Settings: A Realist Synthesis

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Nursing, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim To synthesise published literature to understand how, when and under what circumstances Intentional Rounding in acute hospital settings improves patient safety and make recommendations for implementation in real‐world settings. Background Inpatient falls often result in injury due to complex interactions between the hospital environment ...

Beyond the Adult Mind: A Developmental Framework for Predictive Processing in Infancy

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Predictive Processing has been proposed as the single unifying computation underlying all of cognition, and proponents argue that all psychological phenomena can be explained as consequences of this principle. This theoretical framework has inspired many cognitive scientists and neuroscientists, but it currently has no developmental mechanism ...

Shared Decision‐Making and Patient Enablement in Outpatient Rehabilitation: An Observational Study

open access: yesPhysiotherapy Research International, Volume 31, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives To examine the association between shared decision‐making (SDM) and patient enablement in outpatient rehabilitation consultations. Methods In this observational cross‐sectional study, 158 patients attending outpatient rehabilitation at four facilities in Japan were assessed, of whom 93 were included in the final analyses ...

Environmental Pesticide Exposure in the Etiology of Pediatric Brain Tumors and Leukemia: A Scoping Review of Epidemiological Studies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 6, Page 1360-1384, 15 September 2026.
ABSTRACT Pediatric cancer is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in children. The etiologies of pediatric cancer are largely unknown, but environmental pesticide exposures are likely to contribute. Chronic low‐dose exposure to pesticide mixtures through drinking water is a growing concern in agricultural communities.

Prognostic Approaches for Early Detection of Thermal Runaway in Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesBattery Energy, Volume 5, Issue 5, September 2026.
This article reviews methodologies for early detection of thermal runaway in lithium‐ion batteries, focusing on thermal, electrical, mechanical, and gas‐based precursors. It compares detection performance, reliability, lead time, and system‐level integration challenges to guide the development of practical, robust prognostic safety architectures.
