Geometrical Design of Face Gear

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series C, 2007
Face gears, which are currently only in limited use, can be used in place of bevel or hypoid gears. Recently, a new application of face gears has been proposed for helicopter transmissions and this has led to revived interest. However the method for geometrical design of face gears is still not clarified.

Stiffness‐Programmable Origami Robots With Tendon‐Driven Actuation via Multimaterial 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Motion diversity is achieved in a tendon‐driven origami robot through programmable stiffness rather than modified actuation. Multimaterial 3D printing embeds soft creases, modular inserts redirect identical tendon inputs into distinct behaviors, and variable‐stiffness inserts enable real‐time switching.

Research on the Design and Meshing Performance Analysis of Face Gear Face Gear Meshing Nutation Reducers

open access: yesMathematics
In view of the problems of the complex design, difficult machining, and high manufacturing cost of a traditional nutation reducer, this paper intends to design a nutation reducer and study its meshing performance. First, the meshing pair is designed by the method of internal and external cutting of the shaper cutter, and the method of face gear tooth ...

Shaping of Face Toothing in Flat Spiroid Gears

open access: yesStrojniški vestnik – Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2011
The paper deals with the theoretical basics of forming the face toothings in flat wheels of spiroid gears by means of a single cutting edge tool, using NC machine tools. Based on kinematics - geometrical formulas, geometrical models of creating the tooth spaces, as well as a determination of the modification depth along the tooth line, are described ...
