Investigation of cutting force in face milling

open access: yes, 2017
The increase of cutting applied in finishing processes can be achieved first of all by increasing the cutting speed and feed. In face milling, if feed fz per tooth is increased and/or the shape of the chip cross section is changed, the load of the cutting edges changes and influences the cutting forces and the actual efficiency.

Tuning the Testicular Microenvironment for Enhancing Human Sertoli Cells Maturation and Functionality In Vitro

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
An in vitro testicular model is developed by generating connective tissue equivalents from human dermal fibroblast‐derived microtissues and coupling them with human Sertoli cells or human Sertoli cell spheroids. This engineered microenvironment supports Sertoli cell maturation and functionality, providing a promising platform for studying human ...

Beyond Presumptions: Toward Mechanistic Clarity in Metal‐Free Carbon Catalysts for Electrochemical H2O2 Production via Data Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...

Spatial Effects of ‘Mill’ Closures:Does Distance Matter? [PDF]

open access: yes
When small towns experience a major infrastructure shock, such as a ‘mill’ closure, the effects can be devastating. We analyse the effects of two major freezing works closures in New Zealand, in Patea (1982) and Whakatu (1986). These two examples provide

Moral Equality and Natural Inferiority [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This essay is a commentary upon "Race and Kant" by Thomas Hill, Jr and Bernard Boxill. They argue that although Kant in his anthropological writings took blacks to be inferior, his moral theory requires that they be shown the proper moral respect since ...

Alkaline Leaching: A Facile Surface Activation Strategy to Improve the Reactivity of Air Electrodes for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that alkaline leaching of PrBa0.8Ca0.2Co2O5+δ under anodic bias selectively removes Ba and Ca, forming a cobalt‐rich and amorphous layer. The modified surface significantly boosts ORR activity, offering a simple and effective strategy to improve electrochemical device performance.
