Development of Face Processing: The Effect of Face Inversion
Child Development, 2000Abstract The present experiment examined the degree to which analytic and holistic modes of processing play a role in the way children and adults categorize upright and inverted faces. Seven-year-old children (n = 38), 10-year-old children (n = 40), and adults (n = 55) were instructed to classify upright and inverted faces into two ...

Cognitive Processing of Scrambled Faces
The American Journal of Psychology, 2013Abstract We propose a model, face-checking, that is based on first-order relational properties and discriminates between different faces (regular and scrambled) and predicts their similarity choice in 2 orientations: upright and inverted. The results of an experiment confirmed the model’s predictive ability.

Face processing in the temporal lobe
2022Face perception is a socially important but complex process with many stages and many facets. There is substantial evidence from many sources that it involves a large extent of the temporal lobe, from the ventral occipitotemporal cortex and superior temporal sulci to anterior temporal regions.

Face processing in psychiatric conditions
British Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1992Functional models of face processing have indicated that dissociations exist between the various processes involved, e.g. between familiar face recognition and matching of unfamiliar faces, and between familiar face recognition and facial expression analysis.

In the present work, early processes in the recognition of faces are investigated. Short presentation times of 200 ms were chosen because within this time window the noise in the behavioral data which is produced by eye saccades is reduced to the minimum.

Cognitive mechanisms of face processing
Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series B: Biological Sciences, 1992Abstract Evidence from natural and induced errors of face recognition, from the effects of different cues on resolving errors, and from the latencies to make different decisions about seen faces, all suggest that familiar face recognition involves a fixed, invariant sequence of stages.

Why people process text with computers? It all started many years ago, with the main goal in minds of researchers, to understand the text. In the meantime, the area of text processing developed in many different directions whereby the original goals were often forgotten.

The development of face processing skills
Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series B: Biological Sciences, 1992Abstract An early orientation to faces is followed by a gradual development of face processing skills. During the course of maturation, children acquire the ability to learn new faces and to deal with facial transformations. Some skills are achieved more quickly than others.
