Pre-oxygenation in obese patients: facemask versus facemask with nasal prong
Introduction: Anatomical and physiological changes of the respiratory system in obese patients predispose them to rapid oxygen desaturation during apnoea. Adequate pre-oxygenation before anaesthesia induction allows a period of safe apnoea. The efficacy of pre-oxygenation with facemask versus facemask with nasal prong was compared.

Skeletal and Dentoalveolar Effects Using Three Types of Maxillary Protraction Protocols. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Introduction The purpose of this study is to compare the skeletal and dentoalveolar effects of the three types of facemask protocols in children. Subjects and Methods Forty‐eight subjects were grouped into three groups: bone‐anchored facemasks (BAFMs) (BAFM group, n = 16, mean age 10.77 ± 1.00), facemask with miniscrew‐assisted rapid palatal ...

Efficacy of facemask resuscitation at birth [PDF]
The efficacy of facemask resuscitation was assessed by measuring the expiratory tidal volume during the first three inflations in nine babies with birth asphyxia and comparing the results with those obtained in a further nine babies resuscitated after endotracheal intubation. The facemask system was relatively inefficient, with tidal exchange less than

Sensorized Facemask With Moisture-Sensitive RFID Antenna [PDF]
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the use of filtering facepiece respirators (FFRs) is increasingly widespread. Since the masks' wetness can reduce its filtering capabilities, the World Health Organization advises to replace the FFRs if they become too damp, but currently, there is no practical way to monitor the masks' wetness. A low-cost moisture
