Establishment and optimization of the two‐step induction system for generating primordial germ cell‐like cells from chicken embryonic stem cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study optimizes a two‐step induction system to generate PGCLCs from chicken ESCs. The induced cells express germline markers and migrate to gonads in ovo, offering a novel approach for avian genetic resource conservation. Primordial germ cells (PGCs) are the progenitor cells of sperm and eggs.

Impact of a senior research thesis on students' perceptions of scientific inquiry in distinct student populations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study addressed how a senior research thesis is perceived by undergraduate students. It assessed students' perception of research skills, epistemological beliefs, and career goals in Biochemistry (science) and BDC (science‐business) students. Completing a thesis improved confidence in research skills, resilience, scientific identity, closed gender‐

DDX3X induces mesenchymal transition of endothelial cells by disrupting BMPR2 signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Elevated DDX3X expression led to downregulation of BMPR2, a key regulator of endothelial homeostasis and function. Our co‐immunoprecipitation assays further demonstrated a molecular interaction between DDX3X and BMPR2. Notably, DDX3X promoted lysosomal degradation of BMPR2, thereby impairing its downstream signaling and facilitating endothelial‐to ...

Strength of Porcine Cervical Facet Joint Capsular Ligament under Vertebral Axial Tensile Loading

open access: yesJournal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering, 2013
Whiplash Associated Disorder (WAD) in rear collision accident is difficult to recognize from X-ray images. However, recent clinical studies have mentioned that this injury occurs due to minor rupture in the cervical facet joint capsular ligament.

Expert consensus on research paradigms and technological layout for clinical priority diseases in traditional Chinese medicine: Rheumatoid arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Chinese Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, highly disabling autoimmune disease. Although modern medical treatments have made progress, challenges such as suboptimal efficacy, relapse, difficulties in comorbidity management, and side effects persist.

Progress of research on delaying bone destruction of rheumatoid arthritis by combining traditional Chinese and Western medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Chinese Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common autoimmune disease with bone destruction as the core pathology, which belongs to the category of “impediment disease” in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and its etiology and pathogenesis are still not completely clear.

Analyzing isolated degeneration of lumbar facet joints: implications for degenerative instability and lumbar biomechanics using finite element analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology
The facet joint contributes to lumbar spine stability as it supports the weight of body along with the intervertebral discs. However, most studies on the causes of degenerative lumbar diseases focus on the intervertebral discs and often overlook the ...

Influence of facet joint tropism on the formation of intervertebral disc herniation in the lumbosacral spine

open access: yesХирургия позвоночника, 2018
Objective. To evaluate the influence of facet joint tropism on the formation of intervertebral disc hernias in the lumbosacral spine, and to determine the relationship between facet joint asymmetry and the type of hernia of the lumbar intervertebral ...
