Interactive Facial Feature Localization

2012
We address the problem of interactive facial feature localization from a single image. Our goal is to obtain an accurate segmentation of facial features on high-resolution images under a variety of pose, expression, and lighting conditions. Although there has been significant work in facial feature localization, we are addressing a new application area,

Exploring Recognition with Interchanged Facial Features

Perception, 1986
Any attempt to unravel the mechanism underlying the process of human face recognition must begin with experiments that explore human sensitivity to differences between a perceived image and an original memory trace. A set of three consecutive experiments are reported that were collectively designed to measure the relative importance of different ...

Configuration of facial features influences subjective evaluation of facial type

American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 2008
Clinical assessment of facial type and facial proportions is an important element of orthodontic diagnosis and subsequent treatment planning. Because of the subjective nature of this procedure, it is important to identify factors that could affect final judgment.

Facial Features of Hereditary Cancer Predisposition

JCO Oncology Practice
In the age of telehealth medicine, an individual's facial features may provide the only physical clues signaling the presence of a heritable cancer predisposition syndrome. These syndromes include APC-associated polyposis, Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome, CYLD cutaneous syndrome, hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell cancer, multiple endocrine neoplasia ...

High-Resolution Facial Feature Saliency Mapping

Perception, 1986
For recognition of a target there must be some form of comparison process between the image of that target and a stored representation of that target. In the case of faces there must be a very large number of such stored representations, yet human beings seem able to perform comparisons at phenomenal speed.

3D Facial Feature Localization for Registration

2006
Accurate automatical localization of fiducial points in face images is an important step in registration. Although statistical methods of landmark localization reach high accuracies with 2D face images, their performances rapidly deteriorate under illumination changes.

Automatic Facial Feature Extraction and Facial Expression Recognition

2001
In this paper, we present an automatic algorithm for facial expression recognition. We first propose a method for automatic facial feature extraction, based on the analysis of outputs of local Gabor filters. Such analysis is done using a spatial adaptive triangulation of the magnitude of the filtered images.

Locating facial features using genetic algorithms.

1995
Detection of facial features is difficult because face images are highly variable. Sources of variability include individual appearance, 3D pose, facial expression and lighting. We describe a system for locating facial features, which uses flexible models of appearance as a means of providing prior knowledge about the expected appearance of j'katures ...
