Air Traffic Controller Fatigue Detection Based on Facial and Vocal Features Using Long Short-Term Memory

open access: yesIEEE Access
Air traffic controller fatigue has become a significant concern for flight safety. With the sharp rise in global air traffic, it is imperative to assess controller fatigue, as it directly impacts the safety and efficiency of air traffic control ...

Facial Feature Tracking and Occlusion Recovery in American Sign Language [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Facial features play an important role in expressing grammatical information in signed languages, including American Sign Language(ASL). Gestures such as raising or furrowing the eyebrows are key indicators of constructions such as yes-no questions ...

Facial Motion Prior Networks for Facial Expression Recognition

open access: yes, 2019
Deep learning based facial expression recognition (FER) has received a lot of attention in the past few years. Most of the existing deep learning based FER methods do not consider domain knowledge well, which thereby fail to extract representative ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Two “faces” of e-sports players: the relationship between facial width-to-height ratio and aggressive behavior in the virtual world

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
IntroductionThe growing literature has emphasized the role of facial structures in affecting human behavioral tendencies, particularly the debate on whether a person’s facial width-to-height ratio (fWHR) influences their aggressive behavior.

A modified technique for recognizing facial expression

open access: yesJournal of Applied Research on Industrial Engineering, 2020
This paper consists of analysis of an algorithm dealing with facial expressions recognition. The algorithm has three major steps, initially image is processed, then the facial features are extracted and finally facial expression is recognized.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Bayesian Network Enhanced Prediction for Multiple Facial Feature Tracking

open access: yesELCVIA Electronic Letters on Computer Vision and Image Analysis, 2005
It is challenging to track multiple facial features simultaneously in video while rich facial expressions are presented in a human face. To accurately predict the positions of multiple facial features' contours is important and difficult.

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...
