From Lab to Landscape: Environmental Biohybrid Robotics for Ecological Futures
This Perspective explores environmental biohybrid robotics, integrating living tissues, microorganisms, and insects for operation in real‐world ecosystems. It traces the leap from laboratory experiments to forests, wetlands, and urban environments and discusses key challenges, development pathways, and opportunities for ecological monitoring and ...

Semi-supervised facial landmark annotation [PDF]
Highlights? A semi-supervised least-squares-based congealing algorithm is proposed. ? A statistical shape model learned online is integrated into congealing. ? We develop a system to automatically estimate the landmark set for an image ensemble. Landmark annotation for training images is essential for many learning tasks in computer vision, such as ...

The cellular actors of oxytocin signaling are under intense scrutiny. A brain‐wide anatomical and functional analysis in mice and rats reveals widespread expression of oxytocin receptors in astrocytes. These receptors are functionally active and, in the nucleus accumbens, selectively regulate male social affiliation.

The Heat is On: Thermal Facial Landmark Tracking
Facial landmark tracking for thermal images requires tracking certain important regions of subjects' faces, using images from thermal images, which omit lighting and shading, but show the temperatures of their subjects. The fluctuations of heat in particular places reflect physiological changes like bloodflow and perspiration, which can be used to ...

3D Facial Landmark Localization for cephalometric analysis
Cephalometric analysis is an important and routine task in the medical field to assess craniofacial development and to diagnose cranial deformities and midline facial abnormalities. The advance of 3D digital techniques potentiated the development of 3D cephalometry, which includes the localization of cephalometric landmarks in the 3D models.

Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

Automated craniofacial landmarks detection on 3D image using geometry characteristics information
Background Indirect anthropometry (IA) is one of the craniofacial anthropometry methods to perform the measurements on the digital facial images. In order to get the linear measurements, a few definable points on the structures of individual facial ...

A Functional Regression Approach to Facial Landmark Tracking [PDF]
Linear regression is a fundamental building block in many face detection and tracking algorithms, typically used to predict shape displacements from image features through a linear mapping. This paper presents a Functional Regression solution to the least squares problem, which we coin Continuous Regression, resulting in the first real-time incremental

Fast Facial Landmark Detection and Applications: A Survey
Dense facial landmark detection is a key element of face processing pipeline. In this paper we survey and analyze modern neural-network-based facial landmark detection algorithms, focus on approaches that have led to a significant increase in quality over the past few years on datasets with large pose and emotion variability, significant face ...
