Automatic Facial Paralysis Estimation with Facial Action Units [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Facial palsy is unilateral facial nerve weakness or paralysis of rapid onset with unknown causes. Automatically estimating facial palsy severeness can be helpful for the diagnosis and treatment of people suffering from it across the world. In this work, we develop and experiment with a novel model for estimating facial palsy severity.

Simulation Study and At Home Diagnostic Tool for Early Detection of Parkinsons Disease [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Hypomimia is a condition in the early stages of the progression of Parkinsons disease that limits the movement of facial muscles, restricting the accurate depiction of facial expressions. Also known as facial masking, this condition is an early symptom of Parkinson's disease, a neurodegenerative disorder that affects movement. To date, no specific test

Correlated disorder in myelinated axons orientational geometry and structure [PDF]

open access: yesCondens. Matter 2(3), 29 (2017), 2017
While the ultrastructure of the myelin has been considered to be a quasi-crystalline stable system, nowadays its multiscale complex dynamics appears to play a key role for its functionality, degeneration and repair processes following neurological diseases and trauma.
