The zeolite facies; an interpretation
American Journal of Science, 1961The zeolite facies, formed under conditions intermediate between diagenesis and regional metamorphism, is characterized by mineral assemblages bearing laumontite, heulandite, or analcite, together with quartz. If H 2 O and CO 2 are regarded as mobile components, these assemblages, under the same conditions, rule out the following: calcite-kaolinite ...

Lamprophyres are a polygenetic group of rocks that have formed by the crystallization of common magma types, including lamproites and kimberlites, under volatile-rich conditions. The term lamprophyre is considered to have no genetic significance and the recognition of a lamprophyre facies is proposed as a means of conveying the concept that some ...

Publisher Summary This chapter describes the diagnosis of abnormalities of the face. The study of the face, while it cannot replace systematic examination of the body as a whole, may in many cases direct the observer's attention to the most likely field in which to find data for his diagnosis.

Adenoids apparently were not mentioned in the medical literature until 1867, when Wilhelm Meyer of Copenhagen described them, but there are many examples of the adenoid expression in early portraits. Almost all the Hapsburgs hang their mouths open as if they were afflicted with adenoids as well as with thin noses.

The structure of the eastern portion of the area covered by Plate 1 can be described broadly as a homocline. Its dip is rather uniform to the east (Fig. 66), but its complexity varies drastically and discontinuously across strike. To the west it is relatively simple.

Structures of the norfold facies are superimposed upon those of the sahlfold facies in Trollheimen. They developed during a late and probably final stage in the formation of Riar basin and the surrounding Svarthammer anticline. They do not appear in the eastern homocline.
