Estimating Fact-checking's Effects: Evidence From a Long-term Experiment During Campaign 2014 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This study reports the first experimental estimates of the longitudinal effects of exposure to fact-checking. We also conduct a comprehensive panel study of attitudes toward fact-checking and how they change during a campaign. Our results are generally ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Factoring Fact-Checks: Structured Information Extraction from Fact-Checking Articles

open access: yesProceedings of The Web Conference 2020, 2020
Fact-checking, which investigates claims made in public to arrive at a verdict supported by evidence and logical reasoning, has long been a significant form of journalism to combat misinformation in the news ecosystem. Most of the fact-checks share common structured information (called factors) such as claim, claimant, and verdict. In recent years, the

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Fact checking and analyzing the web [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2013 ACM SIGMOD International Conference on Management of Data, 2013
Fact checking and data journalism are currently strong trends. The sheer amount of data at hand makes it di fficult even for trained professionals to spot biased, outdated or simply incorrect information. We propose to demonstrate FactMinder, a fact checking and analysis assistance application.

Anchorage‐independent and faster growth in clonal population from UV‐irradiated NER‐deficient cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UV‐irradiated cells expressing a DDB2 mutant protein unable to interact with PCNA (DDB2PCNA‐) form clones able to grow without anchorage. Different experimental approaches reveal heterogeneity in cell cycle regulation and drug response within these clones, emphasizing the crucial role of the DDB2‐PCNA interaction in preventing cellular transformation ...

A Monte Carlo Study on the Dynamical Fluctuations Inside Quark and Antiquark Jets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The dynamical fluctuations inside the quark and antiquark jets are studied using Monte Carlo method. Quark and antiquark jets are identified from the 2-jet events in e+e- collisions at 91.2 GeV by checking them at parton level.
