Substrate specificity: Biochemical and crystallographic analyses reveal the hypoxia-inducible factor hydroxylase (FIH) as being promiscuous with respect to the residues that it can hydroxylate in β-position, which in addition to Asn, Asp, and His include Leu and Ser residues.
