Systematic Investigation of the Residence Time Distribution in a Twin‐Screw Extruder for the Continuous Mixing Process of Electrode Slurry in the Battery Cell Production

open access: yesEnergy Technology, EarlyView.
The residence time distribution in the continuous mixing process for battery raw material is systematically investigated. Suitable tracers are identified, with NaCl for the twin‐screw extruder and sodium bicarbonate for powder dosing. Key parameters are varied, showing that mass flow has the strongest influence, while solid content also plays a ...

Response Surface Optimization of CuS Photocatalytic Process Using UV‐vis Irradiation for Wastewater Treatment

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Optimizing the overall efficiency of current wastewater treatment technologies is a global challenge to achieving sufficient wastewater remediation. Thus, this study aimed to optimize the operating parameters of the photocatalytic degradation process using copper sulphide (CuS) and UV‐visible irradiation via response surface methodology (RSM)

Semi‐Continuous Ex Situ Carbon Dioxide Mineralization in Produced Water for Calcite Production

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The mineralization of carbon dioxide (CO2) to stable carbonate products is a desirable process for carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS). However, improving the process economics through creative use of available reactants is necessary to develop a scalable mineralization process. This study details the development of a semi‐continuous

Experimental Investigation and Characterization of Biodiesel From Aregmone ocheroleuca

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
The experimental investigation and characterization of biodiesel derived from Aregmone ochroleuca, a plant known for its oil‐rich seeds. The production of biodiesel from argemone oil, methanol, and potassium hydroxide catalysis through transesterification methods, and then characterized their properties, like the Effect of Reaction Temperature on ...

A Critical Overview of Common Foodborne Toxicants and Methods for Their Reliable Detection

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Food is an essential commodity for human health. However, toxicants such as mycotoxins, heavy metals, acrylamide, and pesticides can be present in food either naturally or through processing, packaging, or some anthropogenic activities. A thorough review of carefully selected studies revealed that climate change and pandemics have led to an ...

Optimizing Haskap Berry (Lonicera caerulea) Storage Conditions and Monitoring Antioxidant Systems

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, EarlyView.
Haskap is an emerging crop with a short shelf life, and optimal storage practices remain undefined. This study shows that storage at 0°C best preserves haskap quality by reducing weight loss and enhancing antioxidant systems, including elevated phenols, flavonoids, anthocyanins, and antioxidant enzyme activity compared to 4°C and 8°C.

Include, Individualize, and Integrate HRM Practices for Successful Aging at Work: Scale Development and Test of a Model

open access: yesHuman Resource Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Managing an older and more age‐diverse workforce is critical given the population aging that is occurring across the globe. Yet, the literature is still under‐developed with regards to which human resource management (HRM) practices help to support aging employees and enable organizations to benefit from an age‐diverse workforce. We draw on an

A hitchhiker's guide to single‐cell epigenomics: Methods and applications for cancer research

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Abstract Genetic mutations are well known to influence tumorigenesis, tumor progression, treatment response and relapse, but the role of epigenetic variation in cancer progression is still largely unexplored. The lack of epigenetic understanding in cancer evolution is in part due to the limited availability of methods to examine such a heterogeneous ...
