Fractional Factorial Experiments

2017
When there are numerous treatment factors to be examined but a limited budget, it may only be possible to observe a small proportion of the treatment combinations. Some main-effect and interaction contrasts cannot then be distinguished and are said to be aliased.

THE FACTORIAL FIELD EXPERIMENT

Experimental Agriculture, 2005
Factorial experiments are described and the importance of interactions emphasized with suggestions about how they should be interpreted. A distinction is made between factors introduced only to see if they will provoke an interaction and those actually under study. Split-plot designs receive special attention.

THE INTERPRETATION OF INTERACTIONS IN FACTORIAL EXPERIMENTS

Biometrika, 1952
Where the joint effects of two or more factors are not additive, a simple model is proposed for representing the effects. The effects of one factor are assumed to be proportional, rather than equal, at different levels of the other factors. The main effects of the first factor are given as weighted averages of the simple effects at the different levels

Settlement as Factory

2020
Settlement as factory is the paradigm for Italian production districts, revealed through the Italian experience, and especially in Milan. Today, this does not mean necessarily that the whole production chain from the idea to the final product has to take place in the same settlement but rather that to be creative and innovative, the contemporary ...

Design of Experiments—Factorial Designs

2004
Designs are often described by the number of factors. Chapter 6, “One-Way Analysis of Variance”, discusses designs with one factor. Chapter 12, “Two-Way Analysis of Variance”, discusses designs with two factors. More generally, we speak of “three-way” or “higher-way” designs and talk about main effects (one factor), two-way interactions (two factors ...

Factorial Experiments In In-Situ Combustion

Annual Technical Meeting, 1990
Abstract Factorial experimental designs can be used when investigating the effects of more than one factor on the in-situ combustion process. The factorial design readily permits investigation of interactions between the factors, and allows some compensation for the effect of experimental error.

Time Trends and Factorial Experiments

Technometrics, 1990
When factorial experiments are carried out over a period of time, the response may be subject to time trends. This might happen, for example, with the steady buildup of deposits in a test engine. This article shows how to arrange the runs in a factorial experiment in sequences so that the main effects and, sometimes, the two-factor interactions are ...

Factorial Design in a Pricing Experiment

Journal of Marketing Research, 1969
This article describes an application of factorial design and analysis to a pricing experiment. The general approach appears promising for marketing experimentation involving multiple factors, particularly those in which factor interactions are anticipated.

Partial Duplication of Factorial Experiments

Technometrics, 1959
Two level factorial and fractional factorial designs are described in which a subset of the treatment combinations are duplicated. The duplicate runs provide an unbiased estimate of the experimental error variance and more reliable estimates of the effects. Several analysis procedures are described and a numerical example is given.

InterEffectOrthogonality in Factorial Experiments

Calcutta Statistical Association Bulletin, 1979
A set of necessary and sufficient conditions has been established for best linear estimates of estimable treatment contrasts belonging to different facotrial effects to be mutually orthogonal. The cases of both connected and disconnected designs have been considered.
