Influence of a Hydrogen Addition to the Inert Gas and Subsequent Heat Treatments on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Magnesium WE43 Fabricated by PBF‐LB/M

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article investigates optimal processing conditions for the laser‐based powder bed fusion of WE43. To limit the interaction with remaining oxygen, a 3 vol% hydrogen admixture to the inert gas is investigated. Furthermore, heat treatments are investigated in the range of 250–350 °C for 48 h.

Balancing Weights for Causal Inference in Observational Factorial Studies [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Many scientific questions in biomedical, environmental, and psychological research involve understanding the effects of multiple factors on outcomes. While factorial experiments are ideal for this purpose, randomized controlled treatment assignment is generally infeasible in many empirical studies.

Gaze-centered coding of proprioceptive reach targets after effector movement : Testing the impact of online information, time of movement, and target distance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In previous research, we demonstrated that spatial coding of proprioceptive reach targets depends on the presence of an effector movement (Mueller & Fiehler, Neuropsychologia, 2014, 2016).

Geometry‐Based Scan Curve Analysis: Rapid Method for the Evaluation of Scan Strategies in Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents rapid evaluation methods for scan strategies in powder bed fusion (PBF) of polymers with a NIR laser as an example for its application. It uses line buffer‐based calculations and point density fields to predict the performance of four different scan strategies. The methods show promising results in laser‐based PBF of polymer samples,

Performance of likelihood-based estimation methods for multilevel binary regression models. [PDF]

open access: yes
By means of a fractional factorial simulation experiment, we. compare the performance of penalised quasi-likelihood (PQL), non-adaptive Gaussian quadrature and adaptive Gaussian quadrature in estimating parameters for multilevel logistic regression ...

APPLICATION OF THE GREEN LEAN SIX SIGMA AND FACTORIAL EXPERIMENTS APPROACH TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF THE BOTTLED DRINKING WATER PROCESS

open access: yesJurnal Teknologi Industri Pertanian
Based on the data, the highest percentage of PT.X 220 ml cup AMDK products in 2022 will reach 7200 products with a defect percentage of 0.5% of the production amount where the production amount exceeds the set limit of 0.5%.The objectives of this ...

Effect of Peak Tracking Methods on FBG Calibration Derived by Factorial Design of Experiment

open access: yesSensors, 2021
We present a calibration procedure for a humidity sensor made of a fiber Bragg grating covered by a polyimide layer. FBGs being intrinsically sensitive to temperature and strain, the calibration should tackle three variables, and, therefore, consists of ...

Balanced Factorial Experiments

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1960
Usually, in a factorial experiment, the block size of the experiments is not large enough to permit all possible treatment combinations to be included in a block. Hence we resort to the theory of confounding. With respect to symmetric factorial designs, the theory of confounding has been highly developed by Bose [1], Bose and Kishen [2] and Fisher [4],

Predicting Aggregation Behavior of Nanoparticles in Liquid Crystals via Automated Data‐Driven Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, a comprehensive framework that enabled the optimization of colloidal solubility within a high‐dimensional parameter space and study of reversible assembly processes is developed. This data‐driven workflow integrated innovations including the robotic platform for automated AuNPs functionalization, machine learning for predicting and revealing ...

Optimal Strategies in Factorial Experiments [PDF]

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1963
ous work of the authors [3], [5], in which two randomization procedures in fractional factorial experiments were investigated. The general problem is to choose, in an optimal manner,- a fractional replication of a full factorial system and an estimator, for the purpose of making inferences concerning a subset of pre-assigned parameters.
