Botanical Gazette, 1977Ten near-climax stands in northeastern Ohio, dominated by Fagus grandifolia and Acer saccharum, are quantitatively described. Acer seedlings are much more abundant than Fagus seedlings; the two codominants are equally well represented in the larger size classes.
