Patient selection for repeated spinal surgery is not uniform and must be further refined. A multidisciplinary approach with careful evaluation of physical, psychological and environmental factors is ideal. Improved imaging should delineate disorders more clearly, and advances in surgical technique may improve outcome.

2004Patienten die met neuromodulatie neuromodulatie worden behandeld zijn doorgaans uitbehandeld voor de andere modaliteiten. Het criterium ‘uitbehandeld’ houdt in dat de patient niet in aanmerking komt voor chirurgische behandeling en dat hij bepaalde aangegeven niet-chirurgische behandelingen heeft ondergaan.

Het Failed Back Surgery Syndrome
2004Failed Back Sugery Syndrome (FBSS) staat voor een aantal aandoeningen die kunnen optreden na een rugoperatie zonder goed resultaat. Dit zou het geval zijn bij 10-50 procent van de rugoperaties. Het betreft vooral rugoperaties die zonder ‘keiharde’ indicatie zijn uitgevoerd of operaties met een goede indicatie die niet optimaal zijn verlopen.
