Failure Criteria for Some Polyurethane Propellants
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1963Abstract Experimental and theoretical studies were made on failure criteria applicable to simple case-bonded hollow cylindrical grains. The minimum strain at break at −75° F for uniaxial tensile test was found to be at least twice the hoop strain at −75° F of a thermally cycled, case-bonded hollow cylinder of propellant when no failures were ...

Temperature Criteria at Failure
1970ASTM Methods E 119 designate several temperature criteria as end points for fire tests. In tests of walls, floors, and roofs, the temperature rise of the unexposed surface is limited to 250 F average or 325 F at any one point. Steel temperatures are limited in tests of certain types of elements.

The application of the rigorous methods of analysis embodied in the theory of elasticity is naturally of interest to engineers. Within this largely theoretical subject, it is of interest to introduce the fundamental basis of such applications, namely, the comparison of the analytical results obtained from an elasticity solution to the expected capacity
