The role of power for distributive fairness [PDF]

open access: yes
We employ an experimental labour setting to study fairness in the division of gains from productive activity. The focus is on the impact of power structures on allocation decisions and on fairness perceptions.

Developing Soft Interconnected Microchannel Network for 2D Skin‐Like Actuator

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A soft interconnected network of microchannels is proposed to develop new pneumatic actuators for future bio‐inspired soft robots. Simultaneous stimulation of this network generates regional asymmetric strains in walls of microchannels whose interaction across the entire surface leads to bending curvatures in multidimensions.

Epistemic Injustice in the Criminal Trial

open access: yesQuaestio Facti
Jasmine Gonzales Rose, Rachel Herdy, Tareeq Jalloh and Abenaa Owusu-Bempah have each written a paper commenting on my essay ‘Evidential Reasoning, Testimonial Injustice and the Fairness of the Criminal Trial’, which appeared in Quaestio Facti in 2024 ...

SemanticST: A Scalable Multi‐Contextual Graph Learning Framework for Uncovering Spatial Niches and Robust Multi‐Sample Integration in Spatial Transcriptomics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Technical limitations often let dominant signals overshadow rare cell types and fine‐grained heterogeneity in spatial transcriptomics. SemanticST, a graph neural network using multi‐semantic graph fusion and a novel min‐cut loss, recovers these subtle patterns.

Decoupling Electronic–Ionic Transport and Catalysis Enables High‐Performance, Chemically Stable Sr‐Free Air Electrodes for High‐Temperature Solid Oxide Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A Sr‐free air electrode for high‐temperature solid oxide cells is designed by independently tailoring electronic conduction, ionic transport, and surface catalysis using complementary Sr‐free phases and infiltrated nanocatalysts. It delivers performance comparable to state‐of‐the‐art Sr‐containing electrodes while completely suppressing Cr‐induced ...

Fairness Versus Welfare: Notes on the Pareto Principle, Preferences, and Distributive Justice [PDF]

open access: yes
In Fairness versus Welfare, we advance the thesis that social policies should be assessed based entirely on their effects on individuals' well-being. This thesis implies that no independent weight should be accorded to notions of fairness (other than ...

Dicationic Ion‐Pair Doping Enables Stable and High‐Performing Conducting Polymers for Organic Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TAB–2TFSI enables efficient ion‐pair doping across a wide range of conjugated polymers, where the strongly oxidizing TAB core drives charge transfer, and the TFSI counterions promote favorable ionic compensation. This dicationic dopant promotes uniform dopant distribution, improves structural order, and increases carrier delocalization, establishing a ...

Deciphering the Crystallinity‐Dependent Sensitivity of Charge Injection in n‐Channel Organic Transistors: Reliable Characterization and Optimized Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Precise characterization of n‐type organic semiconductors necessitates decoupling interfacial constraints from intrinsic charge transport. This work reveals that disordered polymers are particularly vulnerable to contact‐limited bottlenecks compared to their crystalline counterparts.

Computationally Evidence‐Grounded Sequence‐First Design of Peptide Binders

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
BOND‐PEP enables controllable, sequence‐first peptide binder design by grounding generation in binding evidence retrieved for each target. It uses topology‐conditioned message passing to integrate relevant peptide examples with the target protein sequence, forming a residue‐level representation that guides the generation of diverse, target‐specific ...

Just Luck: An Experimental Study of Risk Taking and Fairness. [PDF]

open access: yes
Choices involving risk significantly aect the distribution of income and wealth in society, but there is probably no more contentious question of justice than how to allocate the gains and losses that inevitably result from risky choices.
