Is Phenylnitrene a Missing Link in the Formation of Polycyclic Aromatic Nitrogen Heterocycles? [PDF]
A new formation pathway for polycyclic aromatic nitrogen heterocycles (PANHs) has been found. The reaction of phenylnitrene and the propargyl radical leads to quinoline, proving that nitrenes are suitable precursors for nitrogen incorporation mechanisms.

Dust growth and pebble formation in the initial stages of protoplanetary disk evolution [PDF]
The initial stages of planet formation may start concurrently with the formation of a gas-dust protoplanetary disk. This makes the study of the earliest stages of protoplanetary disk formation crucially important.

The SAMI Galaxy Survey: Using Tidal Streams and Shells to Trace the Dynamical Evolution of Massive Galaxies [PDF]
Slow rotator galaxies are distinct amongst galaxy populations, with simulations suggesting that a mix of minor and major mergers are responsible for their formation.

Cavity-enhanced Raman microscopy of individual carbon nanotubes
Enhancement techniques are a viable route to improve the intrinsically weak Raman scattering intensity. Here the authors demonstrate Purcell enhancement of Raman scattering in a tunable, high-finesse microcavity and use it for Raman imaging of individual

I-BEAT: Ultrasonic method for online measurement of the energy distribution of a single ion bunch
The shape of a wave carries all information about the spatial and temporal structure of its source, given that the medium and its properties are known. Most modern imaging methods seek to utilize this nature of waves originating from Huygens’ principle ...

Observing non-ergodicity due to kinetic constraints in tilted Fermi-Hubbard chains
It was predicted that complex thermalizing behaviour can arise in many-body systems in the absence of disorder. Here, the authors observe non-ergodic dynamics in a tilted optical lattice that is distinct from previously studied regimes, and propose a ...

Dynamically assisted Sauter-Schwinger effect — non-perturbative versus perturbative aspects
The Sauter-Schwinger effect predicts the creation of electron-positron pairs out of the quantum vacuum by a strong and slowly varying electric field.

Ultrashort Ne+ ion pulses for use in pump–probe experiments: numerical simulations
A time resolved experiment to investigate the ultrafast dynamics following an ion impact onto a solid surface requires an ultrashort ion pump pulse in combination with a properly synchronized and time resolved probe.

Pre-equilibrium Photon and Dilepton Production [PDF]
We use QCD kinetic theory to compute photon and dilepton production in the chemically equilibrating out-of-equilibrium quark-gluon plasma created in the early stages of high-energy heavy-ion collisions.

Scaling behavior of anisotropic flow harmonics in the far from equilibrium regime
We consider the development of anisotropic flow in an expanding system of particles undergoing very few rescatterings, using a kinetic-theoretical description with a nonlinear collision term. We derive the scaling behaviors of the harmonic coefficients $$
