The gyrfalcon (Falco rusticolus) is mainly a resident bird breeding in mountain areas in Fennoscandia. The population (estimated to 300-500 pairs) probably fluctuates according to the presence of willow grouse (Lagopus lagopus) and ptarmigan (Lagopus mutus). Little is known about pollutant levels in Fennoscandian gyrfalcons.

Кречет Falco rusticolus(Linnaeus, 1758) - редкий тундровый сокол, распространенный в циркумполярной Арктике. Для островов и архипелагов российской Арктики он известен лишь как изредка залетающий вид. Молодая самка кречета была встречена далеко за пределами основного ареала, где за ней наблюдали около полумесяца. Регистрация кречета на о. Визе в 2020 г.
