Urinalysis as a Noninvasive Health Screening Procedure in Falconidae

Journal of Avian Medicine and Surgery, 2007
Clinical signs of renal disorders in animals, including raptors, are not specific. Furthermore, serum or plasma biochemical parameters change only when 70% of kidney function is lost. In this study, reference values of urine variables were established in clinically healthy falcons.

Phylogeny of the Falconidae (Aves): a comparison of the efficacy of morphological, mitochondrial, and nuclear data

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2004
We sequenced 2800+ bp of the RAG-1 exon for representatives of all the currently recognized genera in the avian family Falconidae. A phylogenetic analysis of these data was compared to prior analyses of mitochondrial (cytochrome-b) and morphological (syringeal) data.
