Errors due to Finite Rise/fall Times of Pulses in Superconducting Charge Qubits [PDF]
We study numerically the dynamics of two-qubit gates with superconducting charge qubits. The exact ratio of $E_J$ to $E_L$ and the corresponding operation time are calculated in order to implement two-qubit gates. We investigate the effect of finite rise/

Comparative Analysis of Real-Time Fall Detection Using Fuzzy Logic Web Services and Machine Learning
Falls are the main cause of susceptibility to severe injuries in many humans, especially for older adults aged 65 and over. Typically, falls are being unnoticed and interpreted as a mere inevitable accident.

Wearable Fall Detector Using Recurrent Neural Networks [PDF]
Falls have become a relevant public health issue due to their high prevalence and negative effects in elderly people. Wearable fall detector devices allow the implementation of continuous and ubiquitous monitoring systems.

Real-Time Fall Risk Assessment Using Functional Reach Test
Falls are common and dangerous for survivors of stroke at all stages of recovery. The widespread need to assess fall risk in real time for individuals after stroke has generated emerging requests for a reliable, inexpensive, quantifiable, and remote ...

A time machine for free fall into the past
Inspired by some recent works of Tippett-Tsang and Mallary-Khanna-Price, we present a new spacetime model containing closed timelike curves (CTCs). This model is obtained postulating an ad hoc Lorentzian metric on $\mathbb{R}^4$, which differs from the ...

Why does attention to web articles fall with time?
We analyze access statistics of a hundred and fifty blog entries and news articles, for periods of up to three years. Access rate falls as an inverse power of time passed since publication. The power law holds for periods of up to thousand days.

Pulse characteristics of passively mode-locked diode lasers [PDF]
For the first time to our knowledge, asymmetric pulse shapes and the linear and nonlinear chirp from a passively mode-locked semiconductor laser are directly measured.

Time required for a sphere to fall through a funnel
We experimentally test a recently proposed theory of the behavior of a single frictional, inelastic, spherical particle falling under gravity through a symmetric funnel. We find that, while many qualitative results of the theory are supported by the data,
