Constrained Approximate Search Algorithms in Knowledge Discovery

open access: yesСовременные информационные технологии и IT-образование, 2020
Knowledge discovery in big data is one of the most important applications of computing machinery today. Search is essential part of all such procedures.

False Discovery Rate Control under Archimedean Copula

open access: yes, 2014
We are concerned with the false discovery rate (FDR) of the linear step-up test φLSU considered by Benjamini and Hochberg (1995). It is well known that φLSU controls the FDR at level m0q/m if the joint distribution of p-values is multivariate totally ...

Heterogeneity in the Global Practice of Central Nervous System Staging in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Central nervous system (CNS) involvement in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is assessed by cell counting and cytomorphology from cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and is used for treatment stratification worldwide. The ratio of “CNS2” patients in clinical trials ranges from 3% to 40%, with unclear prognostic significance ...

Increased Risk of Sarcomas in Children With Congenital Anomalies: Findings From the Genetic Overlap Between Anomalies and Cancer in Kids (GOBACK) Registry Linkage Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of tumors that contribute disproportionately to cancer mortality in children. Although congenital anomalies are among the strongest known risk factors for childhood cancer, the risk of specific sarcoma subtypes among affected individuals has not yet been thoroughly evaluated. Procedure We

Filtering for increased power for microarray data analysis

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2009
Background Due to the large number of hypothesis tests performed during the process of routine analysis of microarray data, a multiple testing adjustment is certainly warranted.

Monotone false discovery rate [PDF]

open access: yesStatistics & Probability Letters, 2014
This paper proposes a procedure to obtain monotone estimates of both the local and the tail false discovery rates that arise in large-scale multiple testing. The proposed monotonization is asymptotically optimal for controlling the false discovery rate and also has many attractive finite-sample properties.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Private False Discovery Rate Control

open access: yesCoRR, 2015
We provide the first differentially private algorithms for controlling the false discovery rate (FDR) in multiple hypothesis testing, with essentially no loss in power under certain conditions. Our general approach is to adapt a well-known variant of the Benjamini-Hochberg procedure (BHq), making each step differentially private.
