Target Motion Analysis in the Presence of False Alarm

1992 American Control Conference, 1992
Usually, target motion analysis (TMA) is based upon the Gaussian statistical assumption for the additive corrupting measurement noise and ignores the presence of false alarms. In this paper, a realistic maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) is developed for TMA problems when the available measurement at each sampling time is either a true detection or a ...

Is it wise to protect false targets?

Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2011
Abstract The paper considers a system consisting of genuine elements and false targets that cannot be distinguished by the attacker's observation. The false targets can be destroyed with much less effort than the genuine elements. We show that even when an attacker cannot distinguish between the genuine elements and the false targets, in many cases ...

Target tracking technology for reducing false alarm

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2017
Because of the complex marine environment, there are a large number of false arms when the active sonar is detecting targets. It is difficult to find the real targets, so the false negative rate has a significant increase. In order to suppress the clutter better and reduce the false alarm rate maximally, the problem of target detection via Multiple ...

Protection vs. false targets in series systems

Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2009
The paper analyses the optimal distribution of the defense resources between protecting the genuine system elements and deploying false elements (targets) in a series system, which is destroyed when any genuine element is destroyed. False and genuine elements cannot be distinguished by the attacker.

A Duel Involving False Targets

Operations Research, 1969
A duel is initated by an attacker at some time t in [−T, 0]. The defender possesses weapons at −T and encounters “false” targets that occur at time t with probability density λ(t) and are classified as “real” with probability cfa. At the time of attack, the probabilities that the attacker is detected and classified as real are D and caa (D, caa, cfa ...

Optimal Search Density for a Stationary Target Among Stationary False Targets

Operations Research, 1993
This paper considers rational methods for the design of search densities when the intended target is stationary among stationary, Poisson-distributed false contacts. Attention is restricted to situations in which the searcher must immediately decide, based on sensed information, whether a contact is the intended target and, if the answer is yes, end ...

Consensus-based Distributed Target Tracking in the Presence of Active False Targets

2021 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things Engineering (ICBAIE), 2021
Multi-station radar fusion of detecting and tracking targets is currently a promising research direction, especially in the presence of active false targets. However, the existing researches are mainly based on the centralized radar network. In this regard, this paper proposes a target tracking algorithm based on data-level fusion in distributed ...

Study on reducing false targets for automotive radar

Proceedings 7th International Conference on Signal Processing, 2004. Proceedings. ICSP '04. 2004., 2005
New waveform for millimeter-wave automotive anti-collision radar is proposed. It greatly improves the response characteristic of radar system and partly reduces the false alarm of the radar. The effective algorithm is introduced to further eliminate false targets in multiple targets circumstances. Simulation results show that the method is effective.

Target Training Juvenile False Water Cobras (Hydrodynastes gigas)

Proceedings of the West Virginia Academy of Science, 2020
Animal training has several purposes and benefits including mental stimulation, physical exercise, stress reduction, and increased safety. Among these benefits, the most important are reducing stress during veterinary procedures and routine husbandry practices.
