Plant microRNA-target interaction identification model based on the integration of prediction tools and support vector machine. [PDF]
Confident identification of microRNA-target interactions is significant for studying the function of microRNA (miRNA). Although some computational miRNA target prediction methods have been proposed for plants, results of various methods tend to be ...

A nap before retrieval reduces false identifications in target absent lineups
Abstract Eyewitness misidentifications are a major cause of wrongful convictions. While most research has focused on the role of sleep in memory encoding and consolidation, recent findings suggest that non-REM sleep may also enhance retrieval processes by restoring executive and monitoring functions.

Decision Aiding to Overcome Biases in Object Identification
Human decision makers typically use heuristics under time-pressured situations. These heuristics can potentially degrade task performance through the impact of their associated biases.

False memory ≠ false memory: DRM errors are unrelated to the misinformation effect [PDF]
The DRM method has proved to be a popular and powerful, if controversial, way to study 'false memories'. One reason for the controversy is that the extent to which the DRM effect generalises to other kinds of memory error has been neither satisfactorily ...

miREE: miRNA Recognition Elements Ensemble [PDF]
Background Computational methods for microRNA target prediction are a fundamental step to understand the miRNA role in gene regulation, a key process in molecular biology. In this paper we present miREE, a novel microRNA target prediction tool.

Cause Analysis and Preventive Measures against False Bottoms in Echosounder Data
This article presents a summary of three common false-bottom occurrences in echosounder imaging based on an analysis of echosounder data. Utilizing the imaging principle of the echosounder, a comprehensive analysis was conducted and an explanation of ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Improved results in proteomics by use of local and peptide-class specific false discovery rates
Background Proteomic protein identification results need to be compared across laboratories and platforms, and thus a reliable method is needed to estimate false discovery rates.

Lineup identification accuracy: The effects of alcohol, target presence, confidence ratings, and response time [PDF]
Despite the intoxication of many eyewitnesses at crime scenes, only four published studies to date have investigated the effects of alcohol intoxication on eyewitness identification performance.

Empathy predicts false belief reasoning ability: Evidence from the N400 [PDF]
Interpreting others’ actions relies on an understanding of their current mental state. Emerging research has begun to identify a number of factors that give rise to individual differences in this ability.
