Laser ablation and management of a retropharyngeal abscess caused by Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis in a ram

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 8, Issue 2, June 2020., 2020
A one‐year‐old crossbred ram presented for acute respiratory distress. Initial diagnostics revealed compression of the pharynx by a spherical, avascular mass. The ram was initially managed with a tracheostomy, antimicrobials and non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatories.

Genome‐wide association study to identify genetic loci associated with gastrointestinal nematode resistance in Katahdin sheep

open access: yesAnimal Genetics, Volume 51, Issue 2, Page 330-335, March 2020., 2020
Summary Resistance to gastrointestinal nematodes has previously been shown to be a moderately heritable trait in some breeds of sheep, but the mechanisms of resistance are not well understood. Selection for resistance currently relies upon faecal egg counts (FEC), blood packed cell volumes and FAMACHA visual indicator scores of anaemia.

Identification of genomic regions and candidate genes of functional importance for gastrointestinal parasite resistance traits in Djallonké sheep of Burkina Faso [PDF]

open access: yesArchives Animal Breeding, 2019
A total of 184 Djallonké lambs from Burkina Faso with phenotypes for packed-cell volume (PCV), log-transformed fecal egg count (lnFEC), and FAffa MAlan CHArt (FAMACHA©) eye scores were typed with the OvineSNP50 BeadChip of Illumina to contribute to the ...
