The papers submitted in support of my application for a Doctor of Science represent the outcome of a major research program begun in 1972. They contain a critical review of the Australian parasitic wasp fauna of the superfamily Chalcidoidea and are centred around the voluminous and confused research of A. A. Girault between the years 1911-1940.

The first records of three encyrtid wasp species—Anagyrus aqilonaris (Noyes & Hayat, 1984), Callipteroma sexguttata Motschulsky, 1863 and Apoleptomastix bicoloricornis (Girault, 1915) were reported from Haryana, India. Detailed redescriptions are provided, which are based on morphology.
