Low noise fan

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1995
An axial flow fan includes blades mounted on a hub and extending radially outward to a shroud disposed around the hub. Pairs of stators are connected to the shroud at positions angularly spaced about the inner periphery of the shroud. Each pair of stators includes a trailing stator angularly spaced from a leading stator by a distance related to the ...

Characterizing computer cooling fan noise

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2003
Computer cooling fan noise is studied theoretically, focusing on the radiation from the interaction between rotor blades and motor struts. The source is decomposed into axial thrust, circumferential drag, and radial force. There is no sound-power coupling among the three components.

Fan Compressor Noise Reduction

ASME 1969 Gas Turbine Conference and Products Show, 1969
A study of various fan/compressor noise reduction methods is presented. The analytical treatment of the basic mechanisms of fan/compressor noise generation is described. The results are presented in parametric form and indicate the effects of fan/compressor design, number of blades, vane/blade ratio, aerodynamic parameters, and blade row spacing on ...

Measurement of the Noise of Ducted Fans

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1956
A proposed technique for measuring the noise of a ducted fan by means of a microphone placed inside the fan duct was evaluated by comparing results so obtained with those obtained by measuring the total sound energy radiated from the duct into a reverberation chamber. A suitable microphone windscreen was developed and was used to reduce the aerodynamic

Acoustic noise control for fans

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1989
Apparatus for the abatement of noise from cooling fans primarily in computer and business equipment. Noise of mechanical origin is reduced by damping the fan casing, by mass-loading the casing (at low frequencies), by isolating the casing from its surrounds, and by absorbing some of the noise as it is radiated from the fan casing.
