Fan noise prediction for design.

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2010
This paper develops a fan noise prediction model intended for use in the design of systems for cooling and drying. Airflow through a system is described by a dimensionless resistance parameter. Fan noise is predicted by a scaling relationship obtained from a dimensional solution of Lighthill’s acoustic analogy. The scaling relationship contains unknown

Active low noise fan assembly

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1996
A gas turbine engine fan assembly includes an equal number of rotor blades and stator vanes spaced axially therefrom. An annular duct surrounds the blades and vanes and has an inlet for receiving air and an outlet for discharging at least a portion of the air upon compression by the blades.

Fan with reduced noise generation

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2009
Axial flow fan propellers are provided with a roughened portion along the trailing edge of the fan blades on the pressure side of the blade to minimize tonal acoustic emissions generated by laminar boundary layer vortex shedding. The roughened portion may be provided by trip surfaces formed in the blades, by strips of abrasive material adhered to the ...
