Noise Source of a Multiblade Fan.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series B, 1991
A search was attempted for the noise source of a multiblade fan by measuring the acoustic intensity using a sound transmittable scroll, and by investigating the state of flow in detail by measuring three-dimensional flow and turbulence at the outlet of an impeller with the aid of a small-sized hot wire probe.

Improved turbofan intake liner design and optimization

open access: yes, 2013
In modern turbofan engines, fan noise is one of the principle noise sources due to increased bypass ratio of the engines. Acoustic liners in the intake and bypass sections of the engine are effective in mitigating noise generated by the fan.

Super‐Resolution Ultrasound Based Cell Tracking With Polymeric Nanobubbles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a super‐resolution ultrasound platform for tracking cells in vivo. Biocompatible polymeric nanobubbles are used as highly echogenic intracellular labels. Following the injection of cells and microbubbles, ultrasound localization microscopy (ULM) can dynamically match the microvascular architecture and individual cell trajectories ...

Acoustic analysis of two small axial-flow fans in series

open access: yes, 2017
The noise signatures of two identical small axial-flow cooling fans installed in series with a flow straightener between them are experimentally measured and analyzed. A technique of noise source component decomposition is used to decompose the raw sound

Double‐Sided Mechanical Interlocking Enables Soft‐Rigid Conductive Interfaces With a Record High Toughness for Flexible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A double‐sided mechanical interlocking strategy is developed to create robust electrical contact between polymer electrode and metal interconnect. The fibrous structure enables formation of thread–hole adhesion, which only breaks under bulk failure and achieves a record high interfacial energy exceeding 730 J·m−2. This adhesion secures the integrity of
