Fano varieties with conjecturally largest Fano index

International Journal of Mathematics
For Fano varieties of various singularities such as canonical and terminal, we construct examples with large Fano index growing doubly exponentially with dimension. By low-dimensional evidence, we conjecture that our examples have the largest Fano index for all dimensions.

We construct 4 different families of smooth Fano fourfolds with Picard rank 1, which contain cylinders, i.e., Zariski open subsets of the form Z × A1, where Z is a quasiprojective variety. The affine cones over such a fourfold admit effective Ga-actions.

Derived categories of Fano varieties of lines

We gather evidence for a conjecture of Galkin predicting the derived category of the Fano variety of lines contained in a smooth cubic fourfold to be equivalent to the Hilbert square of the Kuznetsov component of the derived category of the cubic.
