Electric Quadrupole–Driven Quasi‐BIC Resonances in Terahertz Free‐Standing Metasurface
The design, fabrication, and experimental validation of a free‐standing terahertz metasurface supporting quasi–bound states in the continuum (quasi‐BICs) is presented. Laser‐cut brass metasurfaces exhibit tunable transitions from symmetry‐protected BICs to sharp resonances, with high‐Q responses confirmed by THz‐TDS.

Abstract Predictive genetic testing enables at‐risk relatives of people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, also known as motor neuron disease or MND) to find out if they have inherited the genetic variant identified in their family member and have an increased chance of developing symptoms.

Toward the classification of higher-dimensional toric Fano varieties
The purpose of this paper is to give basic tools for the classification of nonsingular toric Fano varieties by means of the notions of primitive collections and primitive relations due to Batyrev.

Abstract Prokhorov and Shramov proved that the BAB conjecture, which Birkar later proved, implies the uniform Jordan property for automorphism groups of complex Fano varieties of fixed dimension. This property in particular gives an upper bound on the size of finite semi-simple groups (i.e., those with no nontrivial normal abelian ...

Development and validation of a TOPAS Monte Carlo model for a 0.5 T bi‐planar Linac‐MR
Abstract Background MR‐guided radiotherapy enables real‐time imaging and adaptive treatment but may introduce magnetic field effects that alter dose deposition. Accurate dose calculation in such settings requires detailed Monte Carlo (MC) modeling. Purpose To develop and validate a detailed MC model of the 0.5 T bi‐planar Linac‐MR with an integrated ...

Quantum Theory of Surface Lattice Resonances
ABSTRACT The collective interactions of nanoparticles arranged in periodic structures give rise to high‐Q $Q$ in‐plane diffractive modes known as surface lattice resonances. Although these resonances and their broader implications have been extensively studied within the framework of classical electrodynamics and linear response theory, a quantum ...

Fano varieties with conjecturally largest Fano index
For Fano varieties of various singularities such as canonical and terminal, we construct examples with large Fano index growing doubly exponentially with dimension. By low-dimensional evidence, we conjecture that our examples have the largest Fano index for all dimensions.

Birationally rigid Fano varieties
We give a brief survey of the concept of birational rigidity, from its origins in the two-dimensional birational geometry, to its current state. The main ingredients of the method of maximal singularities are discussed. The principal results of the theory of birational rigidity of higher-dimensional Fano varieties and fibrations are given and certain ...
