Probiotic‐Based Mineralized Living Materials to Produce Antimicrobial Yogurts

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The self‐assembly and mineralization of collagen in the presence of probiotics produces hybrid living materials that hosts and protects the cells. Intra‐ and interfibrillar mineralization of collagen fibers, as occurring in bone, results, respectively, in a bulk and single‐cell protective layer of cells, that survive in simulated gastric conditions and,

Antireflection microstructures on ZnSe for mid- and far-IR fabricated by femtosecond laser ablation assisted with wet chemical etching

open access: yesScientific Reports
Most infrared materials used in high-power systems, such as optical parametric generators, have high values of refractive indices, which result in high Fresnel losses.

Comparison of Thermal Detector Arrays for Off-Axis THz Holography and Real-Time THz Imaging

open access: yesSensors, 2016
In terahertz (THz) materials science, imaging by scanning prevails when low power THz sources are used. However, the application of array detectors operating with high power THz sources is increasingly reported.

Optoelectronic Devices for In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The raw data obtained directly from sensors in the noisy analogue domain is often unstructured, which lacks a predefined format or organization and does not conform to a specific data model. Optoelectronic devices for in‐sensor visual processing can integrate perception, memory, and processing functions in the same physical units, which can compress ...

SPECTROSCOPIC PROPRIETIES OF CRYSTALS MF2 (M=Cd, Sr, Ba) DOPED TO RARE EARTH IONS

open access: yesJournal of Fundamental and Applied Sciences, 2015
In the present work, we are interested by studying the spectroscopic properties for optical applications, mainly laser amplification, of MF2 crystals, where M is an alkaline earth (Ba, Sr) or Cadmium (Cd) doped with rare earth ions (Tb3+, Er3+, Ho3+). So

Study on high pressure plasma produced by ArF laser [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
When an ArF excimer laser beam was focused in a high pressure argon gas from 50 to 130 atm, the plasma development is observed by streak camera from side window of chamber. The high pressure ArF laser plasma develops symmetrically and the plasma produced by ArF excimer laser hardly develops as compared with the plasma produced by XeCl.

Pushing Radiative Cooling Technology to Real Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Radiative cooling controls surface optical properties for solar and thermal radiation, offering solutions for global warming and energy savings. Despite significant advances, key challenges remain: optimizing optical efficiency, maintaining aesthetics, preventing overcooling, enhancing durability, and enabling scalable production.

Mode Competition in Gas and Semiconductor Lasers [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2003
The output spectrum of both gas and semiconductor lasers usually contains more than one frequency. Multimode operation in gas versus semiconductor lasers arises from different physics. In gas lasers, slow equilibration of the electron populations at different energies makes each frequency an independent single-mode laser. The slow electron diffusion in

Advancements in Understanding the Physicochemical Properties of Reticular Materials: An In Situ and Operando Spectroscopic Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores how in situ and operando spectroscopic techniques reveal the real‐time behavior of reticular materials, including MOFs and COFs. These methods track material formation and functionalization, structural changes, defect formation, dynamic responses to external triggers, and catalytic processes.

Far-infrared free-electron lasers and their applications [PDF]

open access: yesContemporary Physics, 2009
Free-electron lasers based on radio-frequency linear accelerators provide an important source of far-infrared radiation which allow exciting experiments that cannot be performed in any other way. Facilities such as FELIX (Nieuwegein, The Netherlands), JFEL (Newport News VA, USA), FELBE (Dresden, Germany), CLIO (Paris, France) and others provide mid ...
