A Palette of Efficient and Stable Far-Red and NIR Dye Lasers

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The disposal of long-wavelength-emitting sources is of paramount relevance in technology and biophotonics due to the low interference with the surroundings that these kinds of far-red and near-infrared radiations hold.

Rainbow Archimedean spiral emission from optical fibres

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
We demonstrate a new practical approach for generating multicolour spiral-shaped beams. It makes use of a standard silica optical fibre, combined with a tilted input laser beam.

Tunable far infrared laser spectrometers [PDF]

open access: yesReview of Scientific Instruments, 1991
The state of the art in far infrared (FIR) spectroscopy is reviewed. The development of tunable, coherent FIR radiation sources is discussed. Applications of tunable FIR laser spectrometers for measurement of rotational spectra and dipole moments of molecular ions and free radicals, vibration-rotation-tunneling (VRT) spectra of weakly bound complexes ...

Solving the spectral gap problem with a four-mirror bow-tie cavity in waveguide free-electron laser oscillators

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The generation of intense coherent radiation pulses in the far-infrared and terahertz regimes is of considerable interest to the free-electron laser (FEL) radiation user community.

Self-mixing interferometry and near-field nanoscopy in quantum cascade random lasers at terahertz frequencies

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2021
We demonstrate that electrically pumped random laser resonators, operating at terahertz (THz) frequencies, and comprising a quantum cascade laser heterostructure, can operate as sensitive photodetectors through the self-mixing effect.

Cosmic backgrounds from the radio to the far-infrared: recent results and perspectives from cosmological and astrophysical surveys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Cosmological and astrophysical surveys in various wavebands, in particular from the radio to the far-infrared, offer a unique view of the universe's properties and the formation and evolution of its structures. After a preamble on the so-called tension problem, which occurs when different types of data are used to determine cosmological parameters, we ...

High-Power Ho-Doped Sesquioxide Ceramic Laser In-Band Pumped by a Tm-Doped All-Fiber MOPA

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
We report on a high-power Ho:Y2O3 ceramic laser in-band pumped by a homemade Tm-doped all-fiber MOPA at 1941 nm. The Ho:Y2O3 ceramics fabricated by vacuum sintering and hot isostatic pressing present uniform ceramic grain and high optical homogeneity ...

Effect of 10.6 μm laser moxibustion on inflammation in diabetic peripheral neuropathy rats

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2023
Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is the main cause of disability in diabetes patients but the efficacy of available drugs is poor. Moxibustion is an adjunctive treatment for DPN that can reduce symptoms.

Optimum excitation wavelength and photon energy threshold for spintronic terahertz emission from Fe/Pt bilayer

open access: yesiScience, 2022
Summary: Terahertz emission from ferromagnetic/non-magnetic spintronic heterostructures had been demonstrated as pump wavelength-independent. We report, however, the pump wavelength dependence of terahertz emission from an optimized Fe/Pt spintronic ...

Laser mode complexity analysis in infrared waveguide free-electron lasers

open access: yesPhysical Review Accelerators and Beams, 2016
We analyze an optical phenomenon taking place in waveguide free-electron lasers, which disturbs, or forbids, operation in far infrared range. Waveguides in the optical cavity are used in far-infrared and THz ranges in order to avoid diffraction optical ...
