Over 20-W Mid-Infrared Picosecond Optical Parametric Oscillator

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2015
We report on a high-average-power mid-infrared picosecond optical parametric oscillator (OPO) synchronously pumped by a Nd:YVO4 mode-locked laser. By use of the MgO-doped periodically poled LiNbO3 as the nonlinear crystal, up to 20.2-W picosecond laser ...

Heavily Doped Zinc Oxide with Plasma Frequencies in the Telecommunication Wavelength Range

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, 2023
Heavy and hyper doping of ZnO by a combination of gallium (Ga) ion implantation using a focused ion beam (FIB) system and post‐implantation laser annealing is demonstrated. Ion implantation allows for the incorporation of impurities with nearly arbitrary

Yttrium oxide as a Q-switcher for the near-infrared erbium-doped fiber laser

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2020
Yttrium oxide (Y2O3) has been widely used in metal-reinforced composites, microelectronics, waveguide lasers, and high-temperature protective coatings because of its good physical and photoelectric properties.

Mid-infrared all-fiber gain-switched pulsed laser at 3 μm

open access: yesOpto-Electronic Advances, 2020
Mid-infrared (MIR) fiber pulsed lasers are of tremendous application interest in eye-safe LIDAR, spectroscopy, chemical detection and medicine. So far, these MIR lasers largely required bulk optical elements, complex free-space light alignment and large ...

A Catalogue of Galactic Supernova Remnants in the far-infrared: revealing ejecta dust in pulsar wind nebulae [PDF]

open access: yesMNRAS 483 (2019) p70-118, 2018
We search for far-infrared (FIR) counterparts of known supernova remnants (SNRs) in the Galactic plane (10 deg <| l |< 60 deg) at 70-500 micron using the Herschel Infrared Galactic Plane Survey (Hi-GAL). Of 71 sources studied, we find that 29 (41 per cent) SNRs have a clear FIR detection of dust emission associated with the SNR. Dust from 8 of these is

FAR INFRARED FREE ELECTRON LASER

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1983
Construction of an undulator magnet for the Bell Laboratories' far infrared free electron laser is underway. The undulator magnet has an optical bore 120mm in diameter and a helical magnetic field at the axis that is variable to 500 Gauss and has a pitch of 20 cm. extending to an overall length of 10 m.

Evidence for competition modes in a partially guided far-infrared free-electron laser

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2014
The infrared free-electron laser (FEL) offers a large tunability since the FEL gain remains high throughout the infrared spectral range, and the reflectivity of metal mirrors remains also close to unity.

Molecular Platform for Frequency Upconversion at the Single-Photon Level

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2020
Direct detection of single photons at wavelengths beyond 2  μm under ambient conditions remains an outstanding technological challenge. One promising approach is frequency upconversion into the visible (VIS) or near-infrared (NIR) domain, where single ...
