Bi‐Directional Assembly of Boron Nitride µ‐Platelets by Micro‐Molding for Advanced Thermal Interface Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bi‐directionally assembled BN µ‐platelets in micropatterns formed by a micro‐molding method for thermal interface materials are demonstrated. The BN µ‐platelets are vertically aligned selectively, while compressed regions without patterns accommodate horizontally assembled BN µ‐platelets. Through anisotropic orientation, high thermal conductivities for

Biointerfacing with AgBiS2 Quantum Dots for Pseudocapacitive Photostimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is demonstrated that AgBiS2 quantum dots exhibit unique photoinduced pseudocapacitive charge transfer properties, enabling efficient light‐to‐electrical energy conversion. These quantum dots facilitate enhanced light absorption and transduction when integrated with ZnO nanowires, which serve as an effective charge transport medium.

Demonstration of a widely-tunable and fully-coherent high-gain harmonic-generation free-electron laser

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2013
Free-electron lasers (FELs) are fourth-generation light sources that deliver extremely high intensity, ultrashort light pulses over a broad wavelength range from far-infrared to hard x ray.

Near‐Field Phonon Nanoscopy and Imaging of Structural Variants in Mixed Phase BiFeO3

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nano‐Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scattering scanning near‐field optical microscopy imaging reveal the phonon response of nanoscale phase variants in mixed‐phase BiFeO3 (BFO). Direct mid‐infrared imaging of associated distinct vibrational signatures is used as a non‐invasive optical detection method for electrical switching of ...

Ultrafast Laser Writing Deep inside Silicon with THz-Repetition-Rate Trains of Pulses

open access: yesResearch, 2020
Three-dimensional laser writing inside silicon remains today inaccessible with the shortest infrared light pulses unless complex schemes are used to circumvent screening propagation nonlinearities. Here, we explore a new approach irradiating silicon with

Multi‐Pathway Upconversion Emission in Symmetry‐Broken Nanocavities: Broadband Multiresonant Enhancement and Anti‐Correlated Interfacial Sensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Symmetry‐broken plasmonic nanoantenna arrays achieve broadband multiresonant enhancement of second harmonic generation (SHG), third harmonic generation (THG), and upconversion photoluminescence (UCPL), under femtosecond laser excitation across the near‐infrared range (1000–1600 nm).

Intense terahertz generation in two-color laser filamentation: energy scaling with terawatt laser systems

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
We investigate high-power terahertz (THz) generation in two-color laser filamentation using terawatt (TW) lasers including a 0.5 TW, 1 kHz system, as well as 2 and 30 TW systems both operating at 10 Hz.

The Role of the Photo-Generated Carrier in Surface Flashover of the GaAs Photoconductive Semiconductor Switch

open access: yesIEEE Journal of the Electron Devices Society, 2018
The development of Gallium arsenide photoconductive semiconductor switch has been hampered by the surface flashover. The surface flashover threshold with the laser excitation is far lower than the one without the laser excitation.

Electrical Impedance Tomography Monitoring of Salt Transportation in Cellulose Hydrogel for Solar‐Driven Evaporative Desalination via Laser Defined Wettability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solar‐driven evaporation is a promising solution to the global water crisis; however, it faces a significant challenge of salt accumulation during the evaporation process. This study introduces an innovative in situ electrical impedance tomography technique for real‐time monitoring of salt transportation in the evaporator.
