Vacuum far-infrared drying of apple [PDF]

open access: yesJournal on Processing and Energy in Agriculture, 2016
This paper describes the experimental results on the drying of the apple slices by infrared radiation under vacuum condition. The investigation of vacuum far-infrared drying processes was conducted on the experimental set-up that is designed to imitate ...

Far infrared properties of sintered PbTe doped with boron [PDF]

open access: yesScience of Sintering, 2007
Far infrared spectra of sintered PbTe doped with boron were analyzed. The measured infrared spectra were fitted using a modified plasmon-phonnon interaction model with two additional oscillators (at about 195 cm-1 and 285 cm-1) representing local B ...

Infrared Excess and Molecular Clouds: A comparison of new suerveys of far-infrared and H I 21-cm emission at high galactic latitudes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We have created a map of the large-scale infrared surface brightness in excess of that associated with the atomic interstellar medium, using region-by-region correlations between the far-infrared and 21-cm line surface brightness. Our study updates and extends a previous attempt with IRAS and Berkeley/Parkes H I surveys.

Switching From Acceptor to FRET Donor: How the Organic Solar Cell Architecture Can Change the Role of a Chromophore

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The non‐fullerene acceptor o‐IDT‐BT‐DCV is used in both binary and ternary blends to investigate the role that it plays in each device architecture. The charge generation pathways are found to differ between the binary and ternary blends with o‐IDT‐BT‐DCV becoming a second donor in the ternary blend.

Effects of far infrared light on Alzheimer's disease-transgenic mice.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Far infrared light has been used in many medical procedures. However, the detailed biological mechanisms of infrared light's effects have not yet been elucidated. Many researchers have pointed out the thermal effects of treatments such as infrared saunas,

Infrared spectroscopic diagnostics for Active Galactic Nuclei [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
Infrared spectroscopy in the mid- and far-infrared provides powerful diagnostics for studying the emission regions in active galaxies. The large variety of ionic fine structure lines can probe gas conditions in a variety of physical conditions, from highly ionized gas excited by photons originated by black hole accretion to gas photoionized by young ...

Catalogue of far-infrared loops in the Galaxy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Aims: An all-sky survey of loop- and arc-like intensity enhancements has been performed in order to investigate the large-scale structure of the diffuse far-infrared emission. Methods: We used maps made of 60 and 100 micrometer processed IRAS data (Sky Survey Atlas and dust infrared emission maps) to identify large-scale structures: loops, arcs or ...

Far Infrared Detectors

open access: yes, 1970
There exist a large and growing number of useful far infrared detectors. A complete discussion of the properties of each of these detectors, including its practical and fundamental limitations, is far beyond the scope of this chapter. Fortunately, reviews do exist which present much of this material in a useful form. Of particular value are the chapter

Far-infrared time-domain spectroscopy with terahertz beams of dielectrics and semiconductors

open access: yes, 1990
Using the method of time-domain spectroscopy, we measure the far-infrared absorption and dispersion from 0.2 to 2 THz of the crystalline dielectrics sapphire and quartz, fused silica, and the semiconductors silicon, gallium arsenide, and germanium.

Far-Infrared Surveys of Galaxy Evolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Roughly half of the radiation from evolving galaxies in the early Universe reaches us in the far-infrared and submillimeter wavelength ranges. Recent major advances in observing capabilities, in particular the launch of the Herschel Space Observatory in ...
