Radio-Excess IRAS Galaxies: PMN/FSC Sample Selection [PDF]

open access: yesAstron.J.126:2237,2003, 2003
A sample of 178 extragalactic objects is defined by correlating the 60 micron IRAS FSC with the 5 GHz PMN catalog. Of these, 98 objects lie above the radio/far-infrared relation for radio-quiet objects. These radio-excess galaxies and quasars have a uniform distribution of radio excesses and appear to be a new population of active galaxies not present ...

Consolidate Overview of Ribonucleic Acid Molecular Dynamics: From Molecular Movements to Material Innovations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular dynamics simulations are advancing the study of ribonucleic acid (RNA) and RNA‐conjugated molecules. These developments include improvements in force fields, long‐timescale dynamics, and coarse‐grained models, addressing limitations and refining methods.

Nanoparticle‐Coated X2CrNiMo17‐12‐2 Powder for Additive Manufacturing – Part I: Surface, Flowability, and Optical Properties of SiC, Si, and Si3N4 Coated Metal Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, silicon‐based nanoparticle coatings on X2CrNiMo17‐12‐2 metal powder are presented. The coating process scale, process parameters, nanoparticle size (65–200 nm) as well as the coating amount are discussed regarding powder properties. The surface roughness affects the flowability, while reflectance depends on the coating material and surface ...

Cirrus Cloud Identification from Airborne Far-Infrared and Mid-Infrared Spectra

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
Airborne interferometric data, obtained from the Cirrus Coupled Cloud-Radiation Experiment (CIRCCREX) and from the PiknMix-F field campaign, are used to test the ability of a machine learning cloud identification and classification algorithm (CIC).

Microwave and Far Infrared Diagnostics

open access: yesFusion Science and Technology, 2000
The measurement of plasma quantities is a difficult task since the plasma cannot be treated like normal material. Any measurement of plasma quantities with electrostatic probes will yield interactions with the plasma and causes a perturbation of the measured quantity.

An Examination of Aerosol Jet‐Printed Surface Roughness and its Impact on the Performance of High‐Frequency Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores aerosol jet‐printed (AJP) surface roughness, its effects on the performance of microwave electronics, and its process contributors. First, an electromagnetic model is vetted for AJP's unique roughness signature. Simulations are built which show process‐induced roughness is as significant as conductor resistivity in driving microwave

ISO continuum observations of quasars at z=1-4 I.Spectral energy distributions of quasars from the UV to far-infrared [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Eight luminous quasars with $ -30 < M_B < -27$ at z = 1.4 - 3.7 have been observed in the mid- and far-infrared using ISO. All the quasars have been detected in the mid-infrared bands of ISOCAM, while no far-infrared detections have been made with ISOPHOT.

Geometry‐Based Scan Curve Analysis: Rapid Method for the Evaluation of Scan Strategies in Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents rapid evaluation methods for scan strategies in powder bed fusion (PBF) of polymers with a NIR laser as an example for its application. It uses line buffer‐based calculations and point density fields to predict the performance of four different scan strategies. The methods show promising results in laser‐based PBF of polymer samples,
