Faraday Rotation in Birefringent Crystals

Journal of Applied Physics, 1970
Birefringence complicates the use and measurement of the Faraday effect. The Faraday rotation in nonbirefringent materials increases linearly with path length of the light propagation. However, the observed Faraday rotation in birefringent crystals oscillates about zero as a function of the light path length.

Faraday rotation in calcite

Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences - Section A, 1956
The Faraday rotation has been measured in calcite parallel to the optic axis for the wavelengths λ 5893, λ 5780, λ 5461, λ 4358 and λ 4047 A. A dispersion formula for the magnetic rotation has been fitted up using the same absorption frequencies that are used in refractive dispersion.

Resonant Optical Faraday Rotator

Applied Optics, 1964
Faraday rotation of the plane of polarization of light can be greatly enhanced by placing the Faraday rotating material in a resonant cavity. The transmission characteristics of a resonant rotator are analyzed, and observation of resonant rotation is reported.

Faraday rotation in BaFe11Co0.5Ti0.5O19

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1991
Abstract Spectral dependences of the optical absorption and the Faraday rotation of flux-grown BaFe11Co0.5Ti0.5O19 single crystal were measured in the visible and near infrared region. The observed behaviour was explained by two paramagnetic and one diamagnetic-like transitions.

Faraday-rotation spectra of semimagnetic semiconductors

Physical Review B, 1994
An analytical expression of the Verdet constant of semimagnetic semiconductors is derived from a microscopic analysis of the transverse susceptibility responsible for the Faraday effect. This expression is obtained by integrating, in k space, the wave-vector-dependent transverse polarizability. The latter is obtained within the density-matrix formalism

Nonlinear Faraday rotation for optical limitation

Applied Optics, 2004
The possible use of the nonlinear Faraday effect for optical limitation of the laser power is investigated in a resonant Faraday medium placed between two crossed polarizers. The results are comparable with those obtained at strong magnetic fields as a result of the linear Faraday effect.

Polycrystalline (Tb_XY_1-X)_2O_3 Faraday rotator

Optics Letters, 2017
We have succeeded for the first time in synthesizing an optical grade (TbXY1-X)2O3 (X=0.5-1.0) ceramic Faraday rotator, which greatly exceeds the basic characteristics of the commercial terbium gallium garnet (TGG) (Tb3Ga5O12) crystal. The Faraday rotation angle increased as the Tb concentration increased, and the Verdet constant increased from 2.1 (82

QUANTUM TELEPORTATION VIA PHOTONIC FARADAY ROTATION

International Journal of Quantum Information, 2010
We propose a scheme for deterministically teleporting a pure quantum state, making use of the Faraday rotation of photonic polarization in cavity QED system. Based on the single-photon input-output process regarding cavities, the scheme works well even in low-Q cavities. Since only virtual excitation of the atoms is involved, it is also insensitive to
