Effective communication to improve udder health: can social science help? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Improved udder health requires consistent application of appropriate management practices by those involved in managing dairy herds and the milking process. Designing effective communication requires that we understand why dairy herd managers behave in

Recent Advances in Laser‐Induced Graphene‐Based Gas Sensors: From Sensing Mechanisms to Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Laser‐induced graphene (LIG) provides a scalable, laser‐direct‐written route to porous graphene architecture with tunable chemistry and defect density. Through heterojunction engineering, catalytic functionalization, and intrinsic self‐heating, LIG achieves highly sensitive and selective detection of NOX, NH3, H2, and humidity, supporting next ...

Deep Brain Stimulation Induces Antidepressant Effects by Restoring High‐Fidelity Communication in the BNST‐NAc Circuit

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This cross‐species study reveals that pathological hyperactivity of BNST neurons in depressive states disrupts inhibitory period and isolated spikes in the BNST‐NAc circuit. DBS achieves its antidepressant effects by precisely restoring network inhibitory periods and high‐fidelity signal transmission.

Adult Sex Ratio as a Demographic Feedback Linking Mating Systems, Parental Care, and Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Breeding systems are some of the most diverse social behavior, and our team is investigation the evolutionary causes of this diversity. This review summarises our research carried out at the University of Bath. We argue that demographic components of wild populations, especially the adult sex ratio, plays a key role driving breeding system variation ...

Comparative response on the growth of the tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) under fertilizer treatment based on on-site soil testing

open access: yesEnvironment Conservation Journal, 2017
With the ever increasing demand for increasing the productivity per unit area and the narrowing cost benefit ratio has made the farmer more sensitive to the soil fertility status and soil health.

Selective Deposition of Charged Droplets for Programmable and Rewritable Printing of Patterned Microstructure Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A residual‐charge‐induced electric field control (SDREC) strategy enables the fabrication of patterned microstructure arrays with a resolution of 20 µm via the selective deposition of charged droplets. The resulting arrays exhibit reversible writing/erasing, optical encryption, and selective silver electrode formation, offering a versatile route to ...
