A previously well farmer became deeply jaundiced after dipping sheep with organophosphate sheep dips. He had failed to wear adequate protective clothing and presumably absorbed toxic compounds through his skin. There is currently major interest in these compounds because of their protean clinical manifestations.

SUMMARY There is no final proof of the mechanism of how farmer's lung is caused. Clinical observation of patients leaves no doubt that it is an entity. The mode of onset is typical, the symptoms show a remarkable uniformity and the x-ray appearances are characteristic. The histology of all the cases published shows a close uniformity.

Agricultural Engineering TodayAgriculture is the backbone of our country. Close to 100 million smallholder farmers with less than 2 hectares of landholdings represent 83% of all Indian farmers.
