We used automated behavioral response systems (ABRs) to assess invasive wild pig (Sus scrofa) behavioral response to four auditory playbacks: humans, coyote vocalizations (Canis latrans), pigs in distress, and barred owl (Strix varia) calls. Wild pigs had a significant flight response to human playbacks, but 68% of pigs did not flee.

We studied the Kittlitz's murrelet, an ice‐associated seabird of conservation concern, at the northern edge of its range. Over a 2‐year period, we estimated nest density and success at 2 sites, captured and telemetered nesting murrelets, and tested the use of a thermal camera to improve nest detection.

Field evaluations of thermal optics and tracking tunnels for small mammal surveys at airports and grass dominated habitats

Small mammal survey tools are needed at airports to help inform aircraft strike‐risk management. We evaluated thermal optics and tracking tunnels as small mammal survey tools. We conclude that thermal optics would not be a viable survey tool for mouse‐sized mammals (19‐41 g) at airfields and other thick grass habitats unless grass height was maintained

The future of regional airports in Australia: Policy challenges

Abstract Council‐owned regional airports in Australia face governance challenges that have caused significant financial unsustainability across the sector. Federal policy frameworks fail to address these challenges and risk exacerbating existing pressures by outlining ambitious visions for the adoption of new technologies and achieving net zero.
