High Leg Incision Fascia Lata Harvesting
Ophthalmology, 1997The traditional method of harvesting fascia lata has been through an incision above the lateral knee. Problems with this method include a conspicuous scar, herniation of the muscle belly, and hematoma formation. The authors describe a new method of harvesting fascia lata in the region of the hip to minimize these complications.Cohort study.Twenty-three

The Tensor Fascia Lata Musculocutaneous Flap
Annals of Plastic Surgery, 1978The tensor fascia lata (TFL) muscle, together with the overlying skin of the anterolateral thigh, makes a reliable musculocutaneous unit. It can be lengthened safely by taking the fascia lata and the skin of the anterolateral mid and lower thigh to within 8 cm of the knee.

Morphological features of fascia lata in relation to fascia diseases
Ultrastructural Pathology, 2016Fascia lata is an important element of the fascial system, which forms the continuum of connective tissue throughout the body. This deep fascia envelops the entire thigh and hip area and its main function is to transmit mechanical forces generated by the musculoskeletal system of the lower extremities.

Lip Augmentation with Preserved Fascia Lata
Dermatologic Surgery, 1997Presently available techniques for lip augmentation have an assortment of limitations. To provide a safe, reliable method of lip augmentation on a long-term basis.Through a stab incision in each quadrant, chips of human cadaver, banked fascia lata were inserted into intralabial pockets.Fascia lata grafting proved to be a simple effective technique of ...

Fascia Lata Suspension of Malpositioned Ears
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1996A new technique for the correction of malpositioned ears in congenital or acquired disorders is described. The use of a fascia lata strip makes a rigid fixation of the ear to the pericranium possible without total fixation of the ear in all directions. The configuration of the auricle is not altered, and the scars are inconspicuous.

Using more of the true musculocutaneous (or proximal) portion of the tensor fascia lata enables the surgeon to augment its bulk, include bone in the flap, close the donor site primarily, and use the flap even if the distal fascial compartment has been damaged.
