Stochastic Simulation of the Exchange Rate [PDF]

open access: yes
The rational expectations paradigm, that dominates macroeconomics fails to take into account the complexity of the information, which is so vast that the individual brain cannot understand the full of it.

Open diffusion magnetic resonance imaging and connectivity data for epilepsy and surgery: The IDEAS II release

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Epileptic seizures are generated in cerebral networks that propagate ictal and interictal activity. The structure of cerebral networks underpinning epileptic activity can be inferred from diffusion‐weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI).

Pre-activation affects the effect of stretch-shortening cycle by modulating fascicle behavior

open access: yesBiology Open, 2019
The torque attained during active shortening is enhanced after an active stretch (stretch-shortening cycle, SSC). This study examined the influence of pre-activation on fascicle behavior and the SSC effect.

Epilepsy in emerging adulthood: Clinical, psychosocial, and surgical challenges

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Emerging adulthood (EAs; ages 19–29 years) is a unique developmental stage marked by major psychological, social, and occupational transitions. We sought to characterize the clinical, psychosocial, and surgical features of epilepsy in emerging adulthood, considering both current age and age at epilepsy onset.

Decoupling of muscle‐tendon unit and fascicle velocity contributes to the in vivo stretch‐shortening cycle effect in the male human triceps surae muscle

open access: yesPhysiological Reports
During the shortening of stretch‐shortening cycles (SSCs), muscle force output is enhanced compared with pure shortening (SHO), referred to as the SSC‐effect.

Glymphatic dysfunction couples with cortical excitation–inhibition imbalance in epilepsy: Evidence from Rasmussen encephalitis

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Cong Fu et al. demonstrate that glymphatic system dysfunction is linked to enhanced inhibitory cortical activity using diffusion MRI and EEG. These findings highlight a mechanistic link between perivascular fluid dynamics and neuronal activity, suggesting a role for glymphatic function in maintaining cortical stability in epilepsy.

Stereo‐EEG mapping of visual working memory with task‐related high‐gamma modulations

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective We describe a safe, informative, and easy‐to‐implement approach for presurgical mapping of visual working memory (VWM) with stereo‐electroencephalography (SEEG). Methods Twenty‐four patients with drug‐resistant epilepsy, 11–23 years of age, performed a single‐probe change detection VWM task, during SEEG monitoring.

Picture naming: Stereoelectroencephalography and connectivity insights

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective This study investigates the neural substrates of picture naming (PN) using stereoelectroencephalographic (SEEG) stimulations and evaluates the contribution of white matter (WM) fascicles related to the basal temporal language area (BTLA) to the broader functional PN network.

Abnormal functional connectivity patterns in temporal lobe epilepsy—An international ENIGMA‐epilepsy study

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) impacts multiple brain networks. Aberrant functional connectivity has been demonstrated in resting‐state networks (RSNs) that mediate higher brain functions in TLE. This study aimed to identify the reproducible patterns of altered functional connectivity in TLE in a large, international cohort through ...
