Antibodies and Inflammation: Fecal Biomarkers of Gut Health in Domestic Ruminants
ABSTRACT Gastrointestinal infections present major challenges to ruminant livestock systems, and gut health is a key constraint on fitness, welfare, and productivity. Fecal biomarkers present opportunities to monitor animal health without using invasive methods, and with greater resolution compared to observational metrics.

ABSTRACT Fascioliasis is a common hepatic parasitic disease that is caused by Fasciola, resulting in significant economic losses by reducing production and consigning viscera in animals. Currently, there is little research regarding the impact of chemical compounds on the ultrastructure and motility of adult F. hepatica.

Resistance to currently deployed flukicide is a growing health problem. This study evaluated the in vitro anthelmintic activity of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO‐NPs) at 0.05, 0.10 and 0.12 mg/mL against Fasciola hepatica. The fastest mortality and paralysis rates of flukes were obtained at 0.12 mg/mL of ZnO‐NPs. Furthermore, SEM results showed complete

This study showed that the pooled prevalence of fasciolosis among cattle in Ethiopia was 28.02% (95% CI: 24.77%–31.26%), of which 25.58% (95% CI: 20.89, 30.27) and 30.45% (95% CI: 26.05, 34.85) were found to harbour Fasciola through coprological inspection and post‐mortem examination, respectively.
