Rumen fluke in Irish sheep: prevalence, risk factors and molecular identification of two paramphistome species [PDF]
peer-reviewedBackground Rumen flukes are trematode parasites found globally; in tropical and sub-tropical climates, infection can result in paramphistomosis, which can have a deleterious impact on livestock. In Europe, rumen fluke is not

Fasciola Hepatica Case with Hemobilia [PDF]
Fasciola hepatica (FH) can lead to important hepatobiliary diseases. Here we present a case of hemobilia associated with biliary FH, which is quite a rare case. The 41–year-old patient, who underwent common bile duct exploration due to hemobilia, was found to have arterial bleeding associated with ulcer caused by a dead parasite in the common bile duct.

Transmission patterns of Fasciola hepatica to ruminants in Sweden [PDF]
Transmission patterns of Fasciola hepatica were investigated on beef cattle (n = 3) and sheep (n = 3) farms in Sweden between 2011 and 2012. The dynamics of fluke infection, particularly estimated time of infection, were screened each grazing season by ...

Immunoelectrophoresis for Fasciola hepatica
In an attempt to investigate the specific antigenic substance of Fasciola hepatica, Ouchterlony tests and immunoelectrophoretic analyses were carried out. Crude Fasciola antigen was prepared and fractionated by Sephadex G-200 column to Antigen I, II and III according to protein content.

ABSTRACT The importance of co‐infections is not yet completely understood, and the impact and direction of their effects vary considerably. This study aimed to evaluate the role of total saline extract (TS) and excretory/secretory (ES) products of Strongyloides venezuelensis filarioid larvae on a maternal‐interface cell model during Toxoplasma gondii ...

ABSTRACT Background Fasciolosis is a food‐borne parasitic zoonotic disease caused by widespread liver flukes that affect ruminants and humans, and is responsible for non‐resolving hepatic damage. Although fasciolosis occurs in both acute and chronic forms, chronic fasciolosis is more common.

Vaccines against the zoonotic trematodes Schistosoma japonicum, Fasciola hepatica and Fasciola gigantica [PDF]
Schistosoma japonicum, Fasciola hepatica and F. gigantica are digenetic trematodes and, therefore, possess similar life cycles. While schistosomiasis japonica has for a long time been recognised as a major disease of both humans and animals, infection ...

Fascioliasis is a parasitic liver disease of mammals induced by liver flukes, Fasciola hepatica and Fasciola gigantica. Fasciola spp. rely on their definitive hosts, ruminants, and intermediate hosts, snails, to survive and can incidentally infect humans as definitive hosts. Ruminant (goat, sheep, and cattle) liver and fecal samples were collected from
