Streak Camera Observations of Partial Discharg Polyethylene under Fast Impulse Voltage Stress

1991 Annual Report. Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena,, 2005
Samples of polyethylene with electrical trees at the tip of a needle radius/9 mm gap) molded into the material were subjected to voltage impulses of between 50 and 85 kV (20 ns/2 /spl mu/s). The light emitted from the partial discharges was recorded with a streak camera. Light was emitted for less than 20 ns for a positive impulse of 70 kV.

Design of Different Self-Integrating and Differentiating Rogowski Coils for Measuring Large-Magnitude Fast Impulse Currents

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2013
This paper presents the design and calibration of seven new Rogowski coils, namely, three air-cored coaxial-cable wound coils (RC1-RC3), one ferrite-cored varnished-wire wound coil (RC4), and three air-cored varnished-wire-wound coils (RC5- RC7). All coils are wound in a single layer and operated in the self-integrating mode, especially RC1-RC4.

New Side-Looking Rogowski Coil Sensor for Measuring Large-Magnitude Fast Impulse Currents

Sensing and Imaging, 2014
This paper presents a new design of a side-looking “flat spiral” self-integrating Rogowski coil that is wound by twin coaxial cable with individual sheath. The coil is tested with different impulse current waveforms up to 7 kA peak value to improve its performance.

A Robophysical Mantis Shrimp Model to Study Ultra-Fast "Impulsive" Biological and Synthetic Systems

2022
Breakthroughs in multi-scale, multi-material rapid fabrication and new materials have led to the increased use of robots as tools to understand biological systems in a growing field known as robophysics. Here, a mesoscale mantis shrimp robot, manufactured using laminate origami-inspired techniques called "Pop-up MEMS", is used to characterize the ...
